The month of October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness month. My 1st experience with breast cancer came when my grandmother was diagnosed back in the 80s and had to undergo a partial mastectomy to keep it from spreading. I can remember helping her change her bandages until she was fully healed. The smell of the drainage was a stench I’d never forget as a child. Fast forward to 2010 she was diagnosed a second time and had to undergo radiation therapy by then she was in her 70s and pretty dealing with multiple health issues. In 2015, she passed but was not overtaken by cancer. Breast cancer truly affected my life when I lost my best friend who fought a hard fight for 3 yrs and finally succumbed to complications related to the spreading of it on October 2, 2018. It was the 2nd hardest moment of my life, watching her breathe her last breath and never see her smile again. That’s when being breast cancer aware became my campaign ever October. This year I have taken on the 31-day Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge posed by my photographer and industry brother Michael “The Eye” Owens of MICHAELSEYE PHOTOGRAPHY out of Gainesville, FL where for the full month of October it’s anything PINK in support of the fight and cute. This challenge has been an inspiration and has allowed me to be creative which is what my best friend always saw in me and was the biggest fan in my modeling. So it has been a completely humbling experience and an honor to represent her and many other of my loved ones affected by this disease. #THINKPINK #PINKISLIFE
